The wheel of life is a simple yet subtle exercise. It quickly brought to the surface what were the important areas of my life, today, in this moment, which I care most deeply about. Also how was I scoring myself in these areas; what would it look like, right now, if I was achieving a top score and why do I want my life to look like that or be like that, right now. I found answering this question made a real impact on motivating me. As a result I was able to come up with a whole lot of specific practical action points, quite easily and spontaneously. I was then able to immediately start implementing them to move forward.
The next big step was answering the question what do I want in my life, I mean everything I want with no holding back and how do you sort out the priorities? Not easy on my own. Here Nic contributes some great tools and exercises. These are helping me to figure out what in my heart of hearts do I want to put at the forefront of my life’s pursuits and integrate them with the important areas of my life. What do I want to leave in the background for now and what I can choose to let go of, if that’s my wish.
I like the idea that this is an ongoing process of uncovering what I really want and what’s important to me in my life at this moment in time and then again and again in the future. This is not a one off exercise. Above all following the exercises have given me more understanding about what I want in my life and energised me into taking concrete actions to help me live the life of my dreams. |
